Yes it is, I'm in Zone 9b++ and it does fine in the winter. Even here unprotected gets 60% burn. Probably will be fried if it's any colder. It really hates the Sun though in the summer so keep them in the shade if you can Smile other than that, easy!! But I have 2 in the front of the home that are in the sun and they just lose their green a little when it gets to a 100F

Hello.
i really dont know,but i think that the fruit is edible.I have planted Musa ensete vetricosum seeds in a pot.I hope they will grow real
soon.Here in sweden its spring but today it fell a lot of snow,so
the spring will be a little delayed.I long for the time to come when
the bananas can move into our garden.I can recommend "MUSA BASJOO".Its a real fastgrower but it produces no bananas.Its called fibre banana cause of the making of fibres of the plant.

very nice plant i think i have same musa acuminata i bougt 8 at home depot at batonrouge la they look the same yours is older i am wondering if they produce edible fruit
