Random compost bananas is how I got my first two, actually. My boss at the time was a professor at a college and threw a banana corm she thought was 'dead' in the compost pile at her farm and it grew. So when fall came, she offered me a couple before frost hit.

Maybe a way to make additional propagules, make a partial cut on a corm, add rooting hormone, and watch what happens.
