Thank you! I just thought it weird that it didn't look that way when it arrived! Will the brown/yellow continue to grow deeper into the leaves beyond just the tips? Should I cut it at all? And is it also normal then for them to bend under a bit ?

thats an amazing gift you got here ! usually the yellowing of the bottom leaves is natural because the bottom leaves feed the new leaves emerging ,but be carefull with the crate and make sure it doesn't dry out completly ,good luck!!

Thank you for the welcome! I love the whole growing Bananas idea! I live in the State of WA, but vacation Panama City, Florida-- if I could justify a move there job wise, I'd be there! In the meantime, my love for tropical plants has caused me to begin learning about how and what I can grow right here where I am! Although I see this site is focused on Banana's, I wonder what help you can offer regarding my new palm? I just got it for Mother's day and within a couple of days it is already starting to look brown/yellow on the tips of the older/lower branches... suggestions? I rent and will be moving in the next month, so I'm planning on keeping it potted in the existing wooden container it came in for now.
Thanks for your help!
