Jeff Earl has told me that there may have been a mix up as this is too tall for a California Gold. He said his California Gold fruit at 5' to 6' (he didn't give me the numbers but showed me at about the height of his eyes or nose, LOL). He reported thieves in his garden messed up things which took him a year to sort out so Joe Real may have got the wrong plant from him. Fortunately, I have one from Jeff which he has confirmed as coming from a mother plant that performed correctly.
