Hi captof,
This was a medium size tree (25') in my grandfather's house. The plants grow grows very quickly. Three years to fruiting under ideal conditions. Very easily grown from seeds in the Philippines. The taste is very sour when not ripe, but sweet and tangy when ripe. very high in Vitamin C. Very similar to the Barbados Cherry.

I grew these Orinocos in 2005...my first experiences with edible bananas. They got so big and heavy that after two years I finally gave up on them out of frustration really. I then turned to non-edible types such as Musa basjoo. Then, in 2008, I started getting interested in edible bananas again focusing on Dwarf Orinoco, Raja Puri, and other dwarfs at my attempt to get more fruit. I gave these bananas you see in this pic to a guy that installed my sprinkler system back in Spring 06! Smile
