Cattleya's come in all colors but blue. This type only comes this way, with some having more of a reddish blush in the petals. Don't buy one of these unless you have a pretty good grasp of growing cattleya orchids, because this one is one of the more challenging ones in that group.

Many different varieties of banana plants have color on the pstem including brown and black. So the black may be normal or it could be a fungus spot. As the plant grows the outer leaf sheaf may die and turn brown to black. ... It would hurt to mist the plant with a fungicide or copper sulfate. ... I add copper sulfate & an insecticide to my foliar fertilizer mix when spraying
