I would be interested in a good political discussion site myself Unfortunately political
sites usually degenerate into name calling and dumb statements, which usually destroy
any reasoned discussion.

It would be nice to have something like that associated with this forum, but the it would
only result in driving a wedge between some of the members, unless we use completely
separate handles which would not relate to the present ones. The reason why associate
with 'bananas'? The membership has a higher level of intelligence, than you find on the
usual political sites.

However, if somebody could tell me of a good site by PM, I would appreciate it

As a young man I thought he was bashed a little more than he deserved. When I grew up and became a bit smarter I realized he is an angry, petty demented anti-Semite. I am sure he is pleased to no longer be considered the worst president in our history. I am glad I got to live most of my life before our country was destroyed. Anyone over age 50 has lived in the best years this country ever knew and probably ever will. God help the young people who will never know what America once was, the history books in our schools are an absolute joke.

Edit: I should have stayed on topic enough to say I agree with his statement about money in politics and I also admire his efforts to help the needy in the world. About 20 years ago while having a conversation with the mother of a sitting member of Congress I straight up told her " No offense Mrs. D I think every damn one of them in Washington is corrupt" she smiled at me with the look of "if you only knew". For thirty years I have studied the coming one world government and I am totally convinced that America must be brought down several notches (almost destroyed) for global government to work. That part of the plan is coming along really well, our standard of living is in steep decline. Study Europe's problems with uncontrolled immigration and see our future.

If that quote was from a Kardashian or an actor,
I probably wouldn't have read or thought much of it.
But being actually said by a living previous president
with first hand experience in public service, a statesman
and a 2002 Nobel Peace Price awardee,
carries alot of weight!

I was in elementary school when he was president
and all I remember were the gas rationing
odd even days when you could buy gas.
I really admired what he did after his presidency
and staying active in many parts of the world
rather than fading into obscurity.

Bravo!

formation of the AIIB, which includes ~70% of the planet's population, all American

being, Canada and Japan. In Canada the Harper government is trying to become the
new pet poodle, since the UK appears to have abandoned that position and Japan
has its own issues with China in the South China Sea.

I agree with you on that, nobody will talk about the $100/200? trillion+ unfunded liability that makes the $17 trillion debt look manageable. Tax hikes, pension cuts, and no more EBT cards and riots coast to coast.

Correct! Many countries are corrupt through and through. That is not the case in the US.
The general population is honest but the Congress is the most corrupt institution in any
industrial country.

If you want a change, support Elizabeth Warren, Senator of Massachusetts IMOEO
the only US politician with the guts and determination and hopefully enough clout to
fight that high finance dominated mess. I just hope, that she is not too late.

If you haven't done so yet, read her book "A Fighting Chance" and be encouraged by
it. But she cannot do it alone. She needs the support of any thinking person, who
is not part of the '1%'

Secondly, if you look at China's track record

International Monetary Fund, the World Bank
or the Asian Development Bank?

Of course, Bananas, it will happen. There are only two reasons, why it has not taken place
yet:
- The Chinese are awash in USDs and need time to divest themselves of them.
- They are Asians, who do do nothing hastily, they work for the long term.

They have been busy building schools, infrastructure and such throughout Asia and Africa.
Their policy of non-interference in countries they are dealing with allows them to a) remain
popular and b) to bring such countries like India and Pakistan under the same roof,
and is the reason why even the US's staunchest allies flocked to the AIIB like starlings for
the cherry tree.

And as far as China's human rights record is concerned let me just point out, that the US
has the developed world's highest rate of incarcerations, higher than Russia, Iran and

What stock market crash? If my North American stocks had at average performed
as well as the two Chinese stocks, I bought in mid April as defense against the demise

relatively young and the vast majority of their investors are still novices, which have

Yes, 'Going', I have read the article and it tells part of the story, which you usually
cannot find in the American and Canadian media. Some of the rest of the story is that
while it was an American wrote the book on "How to Win Friends and Influence People",
China is practicing it. They invest in building schools, hospitals and infrastructure
all across Africa and Asia without interfering in the interior politics of the countries,
they are dealing with, while the US insists to spread their idea of "democracy" and
enforce it with their military might. This is, why China gets countries like India
and Pakistan under the same roof and will in the not so distant future be the
dominant Power on the Eurasian continent and leave us as also runs on the sidelines
looking in

From what I understand and the jist of what Mr. Carter was trying to say
and define by the term of democracy is from the definitions #3-5.
I do not believe and I doubt that the ex president of
the United States does not think that
we are not a republic. He is speaking and referring
to something much deeper than that:
political and social equality, equality of rights and previledges.

Using a strict definition - The USA was a Democratic Republic. But now it doesnt fit that definition and it has been all over the news.
But its an internal issue that can only be solved by Americans.
