Default Tornado in Virginia Beach

Well...I come home from school to hear that our area has a Tornado warning! "WHAT!?" I say..."HERE?!"

Luckily, it hit in Suffolk, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and the Eastern Shore along with the rest of Hampton Roads, and missed us. Unfortunately, there is 1 confirmed fatality and over 200 injured, surely, more information will come later tonight due to the fact that the tornado just passed through an hour ago.

Oh, but not just one...

Damage...

It can happen to anyone...so be aware. I came home expecting a normal afternoon. We are safe here, but please send your wishes for all who are hurt and their families.

Holy cow. I'm glad we don't have tornadoes here in Ecuador.... I can deal with earthquakes and volcanic action, but when I lived in Canada we spent a lot of time in the basement praying that the tornado wouldn't take the house.

I have never seen a tornado in my whole life, here in holland it happens only 3 times a year or so and in autumn we have quite much waterspouts. they are LOTS smaller than this huge tornado!

I'm glad that it missed you Taylor. It is unfortunate that 1 person has died. Given the size of the tornado, it could have been much worse.

Glad to hear that you and yours are safe Taylor - we have emailed our friends in Virginia but nothing back as yet. Power is bound to be out for a while.
