I got a nice surprise over 1 week ago from Ante. A bright yellow box in my doorway from Croatia! I opened it to find potica (po teet' sa) almost like my Grandma's that I bake now. It's bread dough rolled out with a filling of brown sugar, cinnamon, honey, walnuts & whatever, rolled up & baked. I tried taking a pic & putting it on here but my 'puter won't let me - GRRRR. It has a mind of it's own sometimes.
On the package listed the ingredients but all I could make out was "rum". Is that same language as here? I will have to try putting rum in mine! Anyway, thank you Ante for a nice surprise. It's gone BTW (was very good toasted w/ butter). And, all I did was send some dragon fruit cuttings! Now I'll have to send you one of mine for Christmas huh? - so we can compare. ![]() |

Haha Patty
thank U for compliments and Im very glad that U like "Orahnjača"(potica in Croatian) I have sendt. I admit that I was a bit warryed about "yellow submarine"(code name for my yellow packet) but I didnt want to warn U. I wanted to keep it as surprise ![]() There were and still are many yellow submarines arround globe since my interest for bananas and other exotics appear ![]() :haAnyway I ll try to translate recept for cake and send to U or maybe better to post it here so other members can enjoy it. Well as U say we have to wait for Christmas for next cake trade or who knows maybe yellow submarine starts a new mission sooner ![]() Hope to see that pictures soon. Regards from Croatia ![]() |
