I had no idea they liked pineapples! I found 1 on my butternut squash and was "attacked" by one a couple of weeks ago when I was making sure my mystery plants had water--1/2" creature who sat happily on my hand so I could take a picture but was out of shots and it's just a blur so I won't post it. Sorry.

Jack (in my avatar) is about 2" long and used to only visit when a new leaf opened; 2 other tiny babies showed up sometimes when he wasn't around. Today all 3 were nestled down in the banana. Can someone tell me if they're hanging out for flies? I see lots of flies on the days they show up. Other days? Not so much.

This guy showed for a couple days but did not stick around. It would have been cool if he stuck around, but I guess it is good he did not find enough pests on my plant to make it worthwhile. If you watch close in the animation, he did have one meal wondering around to dispatch before he ate and ran.

He or she is still there--trust me on this--you are blessed. I would kill to have a few "wasp nests" of them here in FL. When I first started gardening I noticed "crystal orbs" on my jasmine in the fall; they looked bad so I pruned them off and tossed them. Stupid. Found out what they were and never sprayed for another pest again. Of course, I never saw a lady bug again but holy cow I loved my PMs.

This 12 to 14 inch long anole is eating a small brown lizard. By the time I got the camera It was too late, you can only see the tail.

A frog of a different color.

Jack is chartreuse as are the other 2 or 3 babies who visit. Or are tree frogs like chameleons?

So I brought some plants in Wednesday; it got down to 36 here Thursday morning. Everything was potted in "sterile" soil because I was trying to avoid bringing bugs. (My soil here is dismal.) I hadn't seen any tree frogs on the banana or other plants since my post on 11/12 so figured they were hibernating. (Do they do that?) Forgive the mess on my counter...it was worse before I edited...never said I was a housekeeper...

He/she has been caught (those babies can JUMP FAST!) and released outside; I haven't a clue what to feed it and was afraid I'd accidentally step on it. Supposed to be 80 by Sunday and nothing less than 47 until then so the hitchhiker should be fine.

Word to the wise: inspect inside bound plants carefully.

Apparently Jack is back. Or should that be Jack is black? (Okay, not black but very dark.)

No, he left but I am very tempted to actually buy some eggs coming spring just to have around. The one in my photo's must have come from a neighbor as they do not survive the winter here.

I'm not sure they survive winter anywhere. Come fall they mate, the female, if she's hungry, bites the head off the male (obviously he's a goner) then builds her nest. In spring they hatch! They're really cute at about 1" long (when I saw them). I was in MD--supposedly zone 6b/7a--are you colder?
