I think its good to have more hands on approaches to training and getting the younger generation involved in ground based projects :^)

Pretty cool, Gabe! I was just wondering the other day how the farm was coming along. I'm glad to see that you are involving younger school kids. I do something similar with the garden program I run for the City of Houston's Parks Department. We have a couple of gardens that school kids utilize. One is a garden that senior citizens primarily utilize and there are two beds for the kids to grow stuff in. For some of them, it is their first exposure to growing their own food. The other garden is maintained by a group of kids that are considered high-risk for becoming involved in gang activity...so the hope is to channel their energy into something positive. Keep up the good work!

When I was at UF, the agronomy club ran a farm where we leased each person who wanted a lease a 40x40 square area. The agronomy club was responsible for the land preparation, maintenance, surveying and marking of the plots. You would tend to see some very interesting uses for that small area with very intensive intercropping. For some reason it was mostly leased out by east asians.
