Is treated sewage and sewage sludge the same thing?

A portion of the Los Angeles area sewage is processed in a series of factories along side the Harbor Freeway as you approach San Pedro. It is basically a series of successive extractions: light density liquids, liquids of various density or chemical composition, all the way down to solids. Soap solids recovered from sewage is a major industry. Notice that the Bandini company is about 2/3 the way down the chain. |
