OK, you passion flower 'experts', here is the common type that is growing all over the area where I have my garden plot (it is NOT the miniature growing in back of my house). I have no clue as to what type it is. The blooms are about 4 inches + across, and don't usually open until early afternoon.

If it's purple fruit ,could be Passiflora edulis sims

Yellow fruit,Passiflora Edulis var. flavicarpa

It is Edulis variety

That's a very healthy plant.

PASSIONFRUIT

That would explain why it grows like a weed here. I believe that as the fruit ripen, they take on a yellowish tinge.

I have checked that type P. edulis on line, and I think you are right on. Tks!

Do you save seed? If you do would you share some. That Frederick sure is producing a good looking crop. I love the passion fruit and use it to flavor my pies and tarts, and sometimes a smoothie. Mine are just now coming back and hope they produce also.
Thanks for sharing so much of you knowledge and time with members.

The Fredrick is a hybrid and do not grow true from seed. The seed grown fredrick and it has mostly hollow fruit. I will be saving seed of all other varieties that grow true from seed.

Might I ask when they will be available? All that you post are amazingly beautiful and would like to acquire some if possible. At the persent time we have about 12 passi growing but nothing exotic or as pretty as yours. Also, do you ever have time to sleep?

At present we have incarnata, floetida and 5 others that I forgot to write down their names. I expect them to grow rapidly here in this warm humid Florida. The rains will be more regular so they should be happy. The floetida was started from seed and we have several other seeds waiting to germinate. Wish me luck. the incarnata were growing in our pasture and had to be removed since they are toxic to cattle.

mystery solved. when i was a kid my grandmother had passion fruit vines like this. i always wondered what was the purpose of this weird hollow fruit. i guess someone tried to plant a hybrid from seed?? we would get in trouble for bothering the flowers but we would take the fruit and pitch it and smash it with a baseball bat

Some of these Passiflora only need to be cross pollinated to give edible fruit . I have at least 13 different varieties flowering right now,but I don't have the energy to had pollinate all of them.

Beautiful flower and fruit. Do they taste good? Are the seeds easy to grow? Can I get some seed from you.
