I believe it's The Banana Boat Song (Day-O) by Harry Belafonte. Just in case you can't find it. Thanks for the music, I was listening to the radio the other day and heard Hollaback Girl from Gwen Stefani. I never really listened to it before, so I am glad you included it.

I just got done with Virginia Scott Jenkins' book "Bananas an American History" along with many song references in the book, the appendix lists about 60 banana songs from the turn of the 20th century to the present. Might be worth an investigation.

Okay, had to add mine!!!! Don't really like the quality of this video, but it is the best one I can find at the moment. I have all of Howard's cd's and really enjoy sitting outside by the pool and listening to them. This one is by far my favorite and think you will all enjoy it also... If anyone can find a better quality video of him singing this one, please post it!!!! This boy is my kinda guy.. Grew up in KY and moved to Key West!!!! What a dream!!! I think that is why I consider this song, MY ANTHEM!!! LOL

My favourite song ever is by a band called The Boomtown Rats called Banana Republic.
It is about a revolution in which bananas rise up and seize control of the state in a coup d'etat.
As far as I know this has not actually happened yet (maybe it has in Africa or something but that doesn't count - LOL) but it should.
