Blue moon....all weekend.
And the moon is surrounded by two planets Jupiter and Saturn. Everything can easily be seen with binoculars or naked eye. Re: Keep looking up!!
You know, looking up doesn't always help. I was looking up when I got hit by the first meteorite. I saw it coming, and there was nothing I could do until it struck me in the forehead between my sunglasses and helmet visor with a sickening, hollow-sounding thunk.

Re: Keep looking up!!
Awesome shots! I was exhausted and slept in; missing it.
As for the meteorites, while the first one bounced off my forehead and into oblivion, I do have #2 and #3 photographed and in my possession. Now, here is the question that no one can answer: A meteor, in the air, becomes a meteorite when it hits the ground. #2 and #3 never hit the ground, so what in the hell do you call them?

Re: Keep looking up!!
After rereading this, I guess you were kind of asking for pics (prove it!), so:
I wasn't specific in that post. I've been struck by or caught a meteorite three times. The first one was lost, as I was on my MC. The second one hit my arm and bounced into the car. The third fell into a Tote I was carrying. The two on the left are the saved ones in question. The bigger one hit me and bounced in. The smaller one was caught in the Tote. While dragging the magnet on the car floor looking for the one that hit me, I found the rest you see in the case to the right. Driving around for ten years with the window down let a ton of micrometeorites fly in the open window. That is what prompted me to begin looking for meteorites on parking decks. I have several. More pics if you want them.

Winter solstice December 21.
The sun is the lowest on the horizon and will gradually rise higher each day. Days will also gain a few minutes of sunlight every day above the equator. On the downside winter has officially begun. Winter solstice by Hostafarian, on Flickr |
