Unhappy The Joys of Parenthood

My son Shawn, fell 15 feet from a ladder a bit over a week ago and really fouled up his foot. He broke 4 tarsals/metatarsals and fractured his ankle. The surgery was Wednesday, and he's doing OK. He's now home from Montefiore Hospital and staying on the living room couch with the big screen, cell, and xbox. Hos poor mother is going to be worn out before this is done. He'll be out of work for 2 months, with a few more surgeries to complete his recovery. Even though he'll be 25 next month, it still hurts to see your child in pain.

Sorry to hear that Howard. I had a broken ankle & torn ligaments (minus the other stuff with your son) in Sept '07 & it was very painful - just being that, so I feel only some of that pain he's going thru. I always figure, it could've been much worse - if it makes you feel better. I was lucky that I didn't need surgery. He's young, so hopefully he'll heal fast...unlike us old people LOL. I heard horror stories of ppl falling off ladders.
Wishing him the best & a speedy recovery.

Well hate that happened to anybody Howard.. Especially your son and currently myself as of wednesday.. what a coincidence. :^) I bet its alot easier for a retired guy. I'd just make sure he minds his doctors instructions cause @ 25 he's got to much life to be living after recovery. Hope you & your wife don't get any grey hair over this. Definately wish him all the luck in a full recovery. :^)

Thanks guys. His Mom is the point person on this, as we're divorced and I'm in Maryland and Shawn is in NY with her. His girlfriend Kathleen is also doing yeoman assistance. I just help with the daily phone calls, emotional support and the medical questions that his Mom can't answer (she's an Occupational Therapist). And Migael, I have the gray already, next is white or bald. Here's a pic of his Mom and I with Shawn at his HS graduation. Hope you are OK, Migael.

Thanks Howard, yes I'm in great shape. I was trimming trees in the yard earlier today before the rain started. I follow the Doc's guidance to a Tee, but have plenty of toys to keep me out and about (can't keep a good man down)! :^)
Very nice picture.. a good lookin' young man you have for a son.. Your only as old as you think you are (grey don't count) Howard :^)
