Default Importing seeds to Canada

Hey folks..

I'm looking at importing some seeds from the Caribbean to Canada and am wondering if anyone has done this? I checked out the Canada Food Inspection Agency but their site gives me a headache.
Any advice appreciated!

Just order them or have whoever send them in an envelope. I've sent seeds many times and it isn't a problem at all so no need to stress over it.

Generally, I would agree with Bob...if it's not a large quantity of seeds, just have them sent in a padded envelope with no external markings as to contents. If you're importing a LOT, or if they're really VALUABLE, contact your local dept of ag and they can tell you if you need an import permit or a phytosanitary certificate. I doubt Canada has concerns about pests or diseases of bananas Happy growing!

Thumbs up Re: Importing seeds to Canada

Bob's right.

I've been mailing seeds to and from other countries for a few years now and no special measures need to be taken.

Just send them off, girl!

Make sure you cushion them with something so they don't get crushed.

There are no restrictions on shipping seeds from the U.S to canada, but to ship seeds from canada to the U.S is illegal, doesnt make sense!!

I have had seeds shipped to me (in U.S.) from Canada many times and the envelope clearly states the contents.
