how to make furniture and lamps from banana tree
...just wondering if any of you know where there might be a website showing how to
make furniture and lamps out of banana trees, please...I would like to make a lamp for wife from banana tree...  |

You realize that the banana plant is not actually a tree, and the "stalk" or pstem will rot pretty quickly... I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying maybe your initial idea is not quite practical.
I have heard of the dried pseudo stem being used to make fiber, maybe you could make some sort of rattan type furniture? Good luck, keep us posted with pics! |

On youtube you can find videos that depict the process of crushing the banana stems by machine with two counter rotating rollers There also a video depicting SE Asian women stripping banana plants with hand scrapers. I don't have the URL. There are a number of videos depicting how the fibers are woven, braided or bundled to accommodate whatever is being made. . Good luck.
