Typewriter style where you go from end to end back and forth.
Lathe style where you spiral around the cob. Hunt and peck, where you go after the best looking kernels and leave the rest. Other, please explain I'd make this a poll but I'd like to see how it works out gender wise. ![]() |

Haha, this seems so random, but I am sure you have your reasons.
Typewriter Style. Becuase that is the way my parents eat it and that is the way I learned. You should also see if it has to do with Location or Ethnicity also, because Gender seems like it wouldn't show results that are definitive. But I might be wrong, I guess well see with the next few posts. Taylor

At this point I am only concerned with gender! I'm not doing any major scientific survey, just something for fun. Thanks for the reply Taylor!

Our extended family includes many members that are corn farmers and I've eaten my fair share of corn. Everybody I know eats corn the typewriter style. I've never seen anyone use the lathe method. Even when I had feed corn to our dogs they use the typewriter style! LOL I must say that my wife's teeth must have some special design to them as she is able to leave the cob cleaner than anyone I've seen.

Both.
Typewriter style is generally when I'm relaxed, or going for the side with butter and pepper (put it on the grill in aluminum foil with butter and pepper, it is the best!). But Lathe style works for speed when I'm starving. There is no faster way to eat corn! BTW I hate the fact that one end of the cob never lets the holder pierce it correctly! ~Joe |

improved typewriter style for me..
Harvey.. I'm sure your wife probably uses same method as me.. bite a line.. then from that line nibble/pry a few kernels at a time in line.. only large bites are to establish the line to work from.. takes a bit longer (at first) to eat corn.. but once you get the hang of it.. you can clean a cob fast and leave nothing behind BUT the cob.. only ever one row at a time after established line.. I think age has to do with the rest.. all typewriter style.. but when younger more hit or miss.. only 1 hit or miss now.. and he is 9.. 3 females (one of which is "improved typewriter style") 3 males |

Is it too late to put in my $.02?
I lathe style the ends to clean them up, and typwriter the rest, 4 lines at a time, butter, salt, and pepper... ...grew up in Illinois (major corn state). |
