As a little Off Topic aside: Maybe someone can help me. The last picture shows the weather, on the computer. It is on the first page that comes up when I turn on Internet Explorer. You will notice that it says Carteret. Carteret is a nearby New Jersey town, but I didn't enter that. I put in Staten Island, and one day it had changed to Carteret. No matter what I do to try to change it back to S. I., it always reverts to Carteret. Does anyone know about these things?

John, try this & then type in your city -- or anywhere.

7-Day Forecast for Latitude 43.07°N and Longitude 87.97°W (Elev. 715 ft)

BTW, it was 120f on the back deck the other day.

We had a break from the heat yesterday afternoon and it rained here for a good long time. I went out and stood in it after work since I was so hot. Did it rain by you? In any case it's back to sunny and hot again now.

As far as the Carteret thing, it's right across the bay from you and should be about the same temps..... or maybe MSN only reports on the more civilised areas like New Jersey!

Carteret is probably the closest place with a weatherstation. The same thing happened to me! That 106 reading was very accurate though since I also recorded 106F in my yard on Saturday! Yesterday did at least bring some rain, but .33 inches of rain is not enough! Unless it rains another 3 inches in the next few days, we are way below average for rain this month!

Palmtree: Carteret is not the only place with a weather station. The Weather Underground (the people who provide the weather stickers that we have on our postings) have a place on S. I. I think our local newspaper also has a station. I never typed in "Carteret". I had put in S. I., but one day it was changed to Carteret.
Bob: Yes, we got a little rain, but not enough. I had some potting mix in a wheelbarrow, and I thought it would be soup this morning . When I looked at it, all of the water retaining crystals that I had put in it had expanded to little gelaitin-like cubes, When I looked this afternoon, they had reverted to dry crystals. When I dug into the pile, I saw that the rain had only penetrated about ½ to 1 inch.
You may be correct about the civilized bit. The government here, and many of the citizens are certainly not very civilized!
