As Tablets take over and the PC declines, online applications like Google drive will surely become more common place. Security will always be the issue I would think.

Now there's an understatement!
Google is already terribly invasive to what little was left of our online privacy; they don't make any bones about using whatever data they can collect on a guy, and that includes stuff you even talk about in an email that runs through their system.
Their "street view" option on google maps even logs any wifi connections detected as they drive past your house.
That being said, I'm a fan of cloud services, though you can slap together something "on your own" that can approximate similar service for no charge. (the cross-platform capabilities is always nice)
There's just that annoying total lack of privacy thing involved; if you don't want to see your content possibly wind up in an ad for something somewhere, stay away.
... or at least go through & actually READ their small print, where they come right out & tell ya that they reserve the right to use anything of yours that you upload to their system.
1984 was a looong time ago...
