Good bug sprays?

My wife loves the outdoors but gets bite up by bugs all the time. Backwoods, cutter bug sprays don't seem to do anything. Me on the other hand will get bite sometimes, but with bug spray on they leave me alone. Is there any more advanced bug spray I could buy her that keeps bugs away for sure? Thanks.

Look for the percentage of DEET. That is the important ingredient. The higher the DEET the better. Also tell her to not where anything with fragrance including deodorant, soap, mouthwash, etc.... She may be one of those that naturally smell fantastic to mosquitos. They can even detect what blood type you are and prefer type O I think. They definetely prefer females to males.

Yes she is type O which she read also as you said doesn't help. Thanks for the heads up on the Deet %. She isn't a huge perfume person and has figured out perfumy things cause issues as well.

Last year we ran out and so I was using some organic insecticide with cinnamon, rosemary, nd some other essential oils.

Then I decided to try curry powder.
Had to quit when wifey threatened to divorce me LOL.
It did.work ok for bugs though.

Later we found some deet free stuff that smelled awesome but wore.off in 3 hours.
Added 5% deet from a bottle of pure stuff and it works great and actually smells like a nice perfume or something.

the active ingredient in that sweet one was gerinol or something similar.

The smell.of regular bug spray is horrific to my nose and things like OFF make my skin flush to candy apple red and burn like a turpentine enema.

Geraniol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Used in perfume LOL

but, I'd like to reiterate, 5-10% deet will make it much more long lasting

Why go to the trouble of mixing my own ?
Regular sprays smell so offensive that I'd been cutting pure deet with alcohol for years.
Adding pleasant smelling essential oils was better, a repellent essential oils was icing on the cake.
Pure deet has a very light odor.

Call me Captain Obvious but anything that burns like hellfire should be used in moderation AKA lowest effective dose.

Eugenol and limolene are other nice smells and probably have repellent characteristics.
