a few days in north britain...
Last week i went to west of France with a group of fans of palms for 3 days here are some pics of that place...

they are gunneras manicata a kind of giant rhubarb from Chile ,the leaves can reach 3 metres in diameter...they are as hardy as musa Basjoo...

that leaves are huge, I think the height is at least 2 meters from the leaves in the first pic?
in gardencentra you can buy Gunnera Manicata but they are always then Gunnera Tinctoria, the smallel form.

the leaves are very pretty. i might have to get some ruhbard( or how ever its spelled). i like to use it in cakes and pies. yummy yummy! thanks for the pics and the id on the plant. and here i thought the only thing to see in france was claude monets' house..... guess i was wrong.
