Default Blake visits Gabes banana oasis

Gabe is not a member here (as far as I know), but he should be!

He has some beautiful nanners growing there, when I drove up to his house I could see banana leaves over the roof of his house! We found 2 currently blooming banana plants, and they had some bananas on them. He said that there was one more but we could not find it. He wasent sure what type they were, but when I saw the flower I knew that they were m. basjoo. We visited his house November 6. He lets his banana leaves get killed by frost and then he takes a chainsaw and cuts them down to stubs (Which I think is around 1 ft) and then covers them with mulch. He is located a few min away from me, and I plan to visit there more ofen He started out with 2 small banana plants, and look at what they have grown into 8 years later!

Ok now for the banana flowers, which I almost 99% sure are M. Basjoo

Flower #1

Flower #2

I brought back pups of corse I got 7 pups, about 25pounds.

I learned how to seperate pups thanks to him

Very nice! It makes me look even more forward to putting my basjoos in the ground next spring! I just wish I had the room to let them grow a mat that big!
