Default Bananas on the island of Maui

In early August my wife and I went on a trip to Maui, Hawaii for a vacation. We stayed there a week and traveled all over the island seeing just about everything in our travel book. Needless to say, we had a great time. I wanted to share some of the pictures I took of bananas. I was surprised by the lack of different varieties on the island. I could only find apple bananas for sale. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

We went to Maui a couple yrs ago--Very Nice!. We went to all the state parks--really loved Io State Park where the last battle was fought between Hawaiian tribes. Wine country was very nice as well as the beaches and the mountain.

Its interesting how you can see so many different varieties growing along roadsides and in peoples yards, but so few in the markets. The best way to find unusual varieties (and interesting fruits of any sort) is to go those tiny little roadside stands, on Maui especially in and between Hana and Kipahulu.
