Backyard Chickens - From Scratch!

Free Talk This Saturday at 11 a.m.
with Chicken Whisperer Cassie Dingwall!

Although it may seem like chickens are a new fad, there is nothing new about it! Chickens have been raised for centuries for their eggs, meat, feathers and manure. And of course, since children were often charged with caring for them, they were also beloved pets. We could not be more thrilled to see chickens making a comeback and want to share the love - and the knowledge!

Come to the nursery this Saturday, May 22 at 11 a.m. to learn everything you need to know to start raising your own Backyard Chickens. Cassie Dingwall of Gardengirl Landscape has been our own personal chicken guru and we are thrilled she is coming to share her knowledge with you! She will cover the basics for beginners as well as offer answers and encouragement for existing chicken owners.

Learn how to choose the right breeds to fit your needs, how to incubate, hatch and care for small chicks, as well as basic coop-building and where to source free scrap food for your livestock. She will explain how to deal with broody hens, pest control and predators, as well as how to compost your chicken manure into garden gold. Bring your questions for the Q & A after the talk.

Cassie has been raising free range chickens - as well as rabbits and turkeys - on her property for over 7 years. She has had wins and fails along the way and has learned everything she knows by doing it herself. Her hope is that she can help new owners get off to a good start, save them some frustration and improve their chances of success!

Sounds cool Greg! It may be a lot to ask, but I'm hoping you'll take notes & post some info here.
