zone 8a

I have these black coloss...., cant say it or spell it. Black elephant ears. They have grown big this year. Are these hardy in my zone and can they be split up.It looks like I could cut and split easily, they also have a few stray suckers that pop up about a foot away with few roots, these seem to transplant easily but there is only a few. Thanks Brad.

Aren't they for water gardens? I think they need to stay wet (soil)

Yes, they are hardy in 8a, and can be pulled apart easier than cutting.
C. 'black runner' has a habit of reaching several feet away on long runners, and rooting new plants.
