![]() Just got my yucca rostrata in the mail and wanted to see if anyone had experience with these in or around zone 6. I hear it takes a couple years before they will survive unprotected in my zone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just want to keep this guy alive.
thanks-DAN |

![]() Just an update; I put this 3 ft rostrata in the ground last summer and it did great all winter. I left it unprotected and watched it get covered in snow during winter storms. It was a fairly wet winter and the low at my house was around 5 degrees F. It looks very healthy and all looks well.

![]() Hey Dan, I put a 4 1/2 ft Rostrata in the ground last May. It survived -4F here this past winter. The only damage to it was because I put hay bales around the base(no other coverings) and my puppy jumped on one of the bails and damaged a few leaves. If you've brushed up against them yourself you'll know why she hasn't done that again. The only thing I worried about was watering enough to get the roots established in a new spot and balancing that with not over watering which would be the best way to kill it. Also I buriied a foot of pea gravel under the root ball to ensure drainage. There's a mid-winter pic in my gallery.
