Re: Who's GROWING POMAGRANATES?
What ya need to know?
"Wonderful" is a pretty old cultivar, very common out here in CA & should do just fine by you in LA (the state). Great for juicing. They don't usually require a lot of messing with, if you mulch with well rotted manure & compost in the spring it'll love ya.

Re: Who's GROWING POMAGRANATES?
You should be sittin' "fat & happy" then!
They do have a little better fruit production if they have a pal nearby they can borrow pollen from, guessing 'up to' 20% - 25% more fruit if a cross-pollinator is available. You're pretty much in a sweet spot as far as climate goes, probably won't even have to water much. They like lots of sun but handle partial shade, same with soil conditions; tolerates standing water but prefers fairly well draining & even tolerates brackish water, according to my buddy in FL. A google should give ya the fine tuning info; look for websites at: "CRFG", "Purdue", & "UC Davis", or just do searches with "pomegranate" plus the above terms.

Re: Who's GROWING POMAGRANATES?
I grew them for a few years, never had the opportunity to taste a ripe fruit.
Birds would eat 100% of the fruit before they were even close to ripe. The thorns were long and sharp.

I grow Pomagranates but the the type you have. I do know that Pomagranates do not like a lot of water. The plant can get root rot.

Re: Who's GROWING POMAGRANATES?
If by pg tree you mean Pomagranates they are not a tree but a shrub. Can grow up to twenty feet tall.Get you some deer netting to keep the deer away. Lowes should sell it. I use to use the stuff for my garden when I lived on my farm. Will keep the birds off your fruits and stuff.

Re: Who's GROWING POMAGRANATES?
When I was studying these plant, before I planted mine, I read that they grow in the in the middle east. Iran, Iraq, Israel. All these countries get cold in the winter. In Biblical times they grew them also. I am sure they did cover them back then. I never cover mine. They will lose their leaves in the winter. But re-sprout in the spring.
