Thanks to the great members of Bananas.org, I have many new additions to my beds and wanted to thank each of you again. I could not have had such a great collection without you guys and gals!!! Now, I have some plants that are either just starting to bloom or are in full bloom and wanted to share a few pics with you. Several of these plants are from some of you. If you see something that you believe you are the proud parent of, speak up!!! I am sure you will recognize your own offspring!!! LOL Anyway, later this coming week, I will let you know who the contributor is of each plant...

Scot, Thanks for the compliment, but I do not believe mine is the Indian Shot Canna. Most Indian shot is solid red and mine is a mix of yellow and red. I believe mine is Canna Patens. Here is a link to a good description of mine and a pretty good pic as well. (It is the 10th plant down!!) Bulbs, Corms, Tubers - Zephyranthes, Canna, Costus, Crinum, Habranthus, Palianthes... Whatever it is, I do enjoy it and this year is the first year it is blooming as well as it is... In the past it bloomed sporatically, but never like this year!!! Again, thanks for the compliment and best of luck with yours... |

Yes, it is a double metal blue datura from Chris that I grew from seed this year. I have been really happy with its growth rate and overall vigor and appearance. Thanks for the compliment!!!

The Daturas are so cool. I've grown that one the past couple of years. Plant parts are toxic, so be careful!

I disagree with the ID on 6. Its Canna patens, from Mexico( though I also see references to Southern Brasil). I have seen one source list this as a synonym for C indica though, but I disagree with that assessment. I am glad to see that the Monocot Checklist from kew also lists this one as a valid and accepted name. Zac |
