Hey everybody! I have a design for my backyard and I have a question; the tall plant in the middle is supposed to be rhapis humilis here's what I have in mind PlantFiles: Picture #9 of Slender Lady Palm (Rhapis humilis) I don't think I can grow it here, but I would love too! Do you think I could cut the stems down and mulch it and cover it with burlap or is it to slow growing? Or instead, does anybody know a plant similar that could replace it? Like bamboo? I would really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!!!!!!!!

It would probably be too slow growing in zone 6 to cut and mulch even if you could get away with it. I would definitly research some of the taller hardier bamboos for the tropical effect. Hopefully Eric sees this and has a suggestion, he's pretty well versed in them.

If this is reference to the 1st pic in your garden I think the plant selected would be fine jusr make sure it not a waste of your time.. needs to be very hardy so it give you some lattitude.. for success :^)
