Re: What did you harvest today (other plants)?
First three !Are the littles dots in the fruit ok?are they look healthy.?I taste it and the flesh is very sweet and flavorful, yellow-orange fleshed -few seeds-the strong and pungent smell typical of most Papaya.

Re: What did you harvest today (other plants)?
I know it isn't much, but I am proud, at least it's SOMETHING right??? I watched them all summer long and they finally changed color with the cold.

1st harvest of the season...or the last one from last year
Just pulled the rest of the carrots that I planted last year out of the greenhouse Not a ton of them but they grew thru the winter without any heat/artificial light

I have 2 jaboticabas that I bought 55 years ago. They were 20 years young at that time. It took 10 years to get a good crop. When my parents planed to sell there home I brought the trees to our yard. This one fell over once in hurricane Andrew and and 3 times 5 years ago when we were hit with 3 big storms. In the last years I have trimmed off half of the growth, it's just to big. I moved this one a second time to get it in to a lighter area. This one also fell over in Andrew. It's only in the last few years that it started to have real good crops. They produce fruit off and on all year around. The best crops are from Jan.-June. |

Re: What did you harvest today (other plants)?
Thanks jnstropic!
I had just purchased property the month Andrew hit, and had not planted anything yet. But Charlie got us with the eye wall. It laid down one mango tree and damage several others. I remember driving through Homestead after Andrew, and the place we stayed on our Honeymoon was a slab of concrete. The bulldozers had not yet gone to work on it. Nice orchids. Thank you for the information! Good weather, good growing, and a quiet hurricane season to you. SBL, the Jaboticaba tastes sweet inside not like any other fruit, even though it looks like a grape.
