I believe that variety is Oscarus de la Hoya, Family Pugilus

You're right though; it looks like peppermint candy!

This was revealed under 10 inches of snow on the north side of a structure.
Ground is frozen..

Snowdrops....first up...
I also have Hellebores and a few other early showoffs.
Woodland plants will always bloom first......For the hungry pollinators.
Here is a link to something I belong to....anyone may join and I encourage forum members to check it out.

http://cincinnatizoo.org/horticultur...r-pollinators/

Now is the time to split your dormant perennials.
Every plant in your garden is ready to divide.
Follow transplant guidelines and best practices for your area.

Your plants will awaken in their new home with vigor and not a clue they were split.
I have a tub of sleeping hosta which are looking for a new home in the Jungle.
I will dig an amended hole and plop them in.

Fertilize your basjoo (16-16-16-) or with what you can afford before they push.....in 90 days they will thank you.

Snowdrops

Leaf buds are opening on my blueberries already!

I'm really hoping to get some flowers, as that will mean berries this season. I ordered a Premier from Brighter Blooms, and it was NOT pretty! It was growing on a 45 degree angle and then straight up. They offered to replace it, and I inquired what would be a good cross pollinator. They sent me a Climax. So I absolutely cannot wait until I enjoy the resulting Premier Climax, LOL!

FWIW: I've heard some bad things about this company, but their CS was above and beyond reproach. I actually made a personal friend out of the whole thing with the rep involved.

Gerbera California Giants:

Gerbera Majorette:

The above were grown from seeds last year. Out of 25 California Giant seeds ($1.55), 12 germinated. Out of 10 Majorette seed ($4.35), 2 germinated.

The Gerbera Majorette plants are so nice that, this year, I ordered 50 seeds for $16.95 but they are on backorder. Nothing goes smoothly.

Clivia hybrids grown from small seedlings:

The company that I bought them from told me that the one on the left would be red and the one on the right would be double. I was ripped off. Ha, ha!

While vegetables do technically bloom, they aren't as impressive as the fruits themselves. These are the first Everglades ripening on my container plant. They are about the size of my thumbnail. The small plant underneath is basil. It is supposed to repel hornworms. We shall see if it works. I have it planted in my raised beds as well.
