it was the one you are showing in this picture. I asked him for a spare rhizome and I have

Thank you, Tony, I can now tentatively rename my developing cannas from "Unknown Canna"
to "Canna Australia". Tentatively, because I have seen mine so far only from a distance in the
neighbour's yard. I will have to wait until my off-springs show 2 or 3 mature leaves to be more
certain, maybe even until they bloom.

I posted a week or so ago some pictures of this plant in a different thread in this forum asking for help
in ID-ing it, but had no luck so far. Well it is blooming in my garden today, so I am repeating here,
what I posted in that other thread today also, - in the hope that this would expose it to more plant
lovers.

I sure would like to learn more about a plant, which established itself in almost total shade one
spring as a seedling, grew to more than 5 feet in height during summer and fall and is now just 12
months later breaking out in a profusion of flowers. Most of all I would like to know about their
hardiness and how to propagate them, because I could sure use more of these shade
thriving beauties.










And look at the beautiful colouration of the bark!













It does not show the shape of the flowers very well, but I had to try a ‘shot in the dark’ even though
there was a light rain at the time
