"Blue Girl" Rose
Joy Perfume Tree, my avatar, (Michelia Champaca var.'Alba'), sometimes referred to as "White Ylang-Ylang". Ylang-Ylang (Cananga Odorata) is the essence of Channel No. 5. The fragrance is heavenly in my front yard and greenhouse. My Ylang-Ylangs are several years away from blooming though. And they are hard to grow! My Champacas are from cuttings and graftings, so they bloomed since the first year I had them. They really had a tough time last winter, even though they were in the greehouse. Then in the spring, they dropped most of their leaves. I'm going to have to re-pot the ones in 6" pots to see if they'll turn green faster. Some of them are actually budding at this time, although they don't have too many leaves. |

There's a big pile of top soil that the dozer pushed up when they formed up my shop . All over this pile I found Passionfruits!!!
I have no idea where they came from....I guess a bird pooped em' there ... but they are blooming like mad. ![]()

Sam, I was told I couldn't grow them during the summer. The leaves were turning yellow etc. So I put epsom salt on them and have been fertilizing heavily. An now they've started to bloom and the foliage has greened up.

i have a fert hat i mix up and use on all my plants and it includes epsoms salts. i havent used it on my nanas because i wasnt sure how the nanas would react to the salts. but it goes on my roses and dalhias and just about everything i put in the ground.

Hey Howard - great water hyacinths but just make sure that no pieces get into the local streams. That plant totally clogged the Kariba dam in Africa (forget which country - they keep changing names!) and is a banned plant in many countries. But lovely - I have some here and they are beautiful!

Dean,
If you don't mind me asking, how tall is that Crepe Myrtle and how fast did it get to that height? I purchased one online from fast growing trees.com this spring it has grown, ah well I guess that's not all i'm concerned about. Well anyway do they typically grow fast do you know and do you like yours? It certainly looks nice. I think they're beautiful trees. thanks, Bill
