Yes, Orton Englehart, who named the Creamhart avocado and earlier invented the impact sprinkler. Wish we could find Creamhart.

I brought seeds back from Hilo in 2007. I grew four plants. In 2008 I lost all four and decided not to grow stuff that won't make it here. Tony, you get way more heat than we do here. The climate in Santa Barbara sounds great but it never really warms up and is a damp cold. Good luck!

Posting this up just for reference. This is the discoloration i'm getting on the oldest of the cacao leaves. At the moment the soil is actually very dry which could be the culprit, i haven't had a chance to water it, too many plants lol. Poor thing.

Hey Tony was it outside this winter? If so what is the lowest temperature you guys had down there? We got a few cold snaps up here, it was a little weird, I think we had one night of 26.

When I start growing them I think I am going to make some clones of the different varieties (if I can find them), put them outside and see how they do. You never know, one might be able to take a little cooler, or hotter weather. Look what we have done in this community with bananas. It may also be spot on and they will simply die.

Keep us updated, I am very interested to see how they do in California even in a green house.
