Thalia dealbata (powdery alligator flag)

Got this plant from Steve in France in the spring of '08. Planted out last year and it did not do much, so I dug it up, potted and stored over winter in greenhouse. This spring, I planted it in a different spot that gets more water and lots more sun and it has done really well. It is starting to bloom. I have heard it is hardy to about 6b. Anyone else out there growing this and how invasive is it?

Hi Randy- got my Thalia from Steve also. However, I have mine in the pond. I brought in inside for the winter in a large tub in the basement. Some references say hardy to 6a, others 8. One said he overwintered it in the deep section of his pond in the Philadelphia, Pa area. Love it. Good luck!

Bump-

My Thalia in the pond has done so well that it has escaped the pot and is growing throughout the pond (stones over liner). When I tried gentle pulling to remove it, found it was well anchored. My fear is that it is growing through the liner. If I yank it out, I'm afraid it will tear the liner. Other plants in the pond are also all in pots, and have not escaped their confines. I also have fancy goldfish and koi. Any suggestions? Thanks.

edit- BTW, I leave it out through the winter after cutting the stems, and it obviously does well.
