I have purple ribbon heirloom, but they're just sprouting so no sections available at the moment... hopefully I remember to revisit this thread in the spring. I also have one other kind, but I am not sure of the type. kubali: would you be interested in selling some sections? you have some interesting varieties that I haven't heard of, but would love to try.

Sweet Purple Asian Sugar Cane

Just happened to cut some of this today a couple hours ago for planting:}

Got this from a single 6" tube I planted earlier this year not much however: I also replanted some sprouts from the same tube and am going to try and winter it... Going to chew a little first though:}

Always willing to get more varieties of cane to try here in Lizard Creek, Louisiana, just let me know if you want to sell

I got a piece of sugarcane from my neighbor, he didn't know the name. I planted it in the yard and it came up kind of purple. I cut the stalk into several pieces and planted them in several places in my yard. The cane is coming up with different color stalks. Is that normal for sugarcane?

Late bump but Yes it is normal Lau.

Here's a patch I have that looks the same.

I think this guy is ready? It crept from under my neighbors fence

His brother

I had no objections

Can anyone help with an ID?

Also any one looking for a trade? I'm in the market

:{ From the look's of it all my Sugar Cane bit the dust or should I say ice lol

Unless my purple cane that I planted in September makes a run, my grandkids and I will be simply chewing Bubble Gum this year lol

I'd be glad to trade or buy some from someone if it does make a run:}

Just let me know

S.

harvest in fall before the first freeze to get it at its peak size and sweetness but don't risk waiting. then cut as close to the base without damaging the roots. the second ratoon will be much bigger.
