There are still three left if anyone else is interested. We didn't hog them all!

But I am a nut over variegated plants and Greg likes them too - and to get a variegated plant that is also an edible strawberry. SCORE!!!!!

There are 2 left. I hope I can keep mine alive. I fear it will die at my hands.

Unhappy Re: STRAWBERRY Grower's Thread...

My local nursery told me they were getting in the pink blossom variety, but they didn't after all. Weird because they had them last season.

Congrats on your variegated ones though, you guys!

Hey Tom and Greg, I just wanted to let you know I received my variegated strawberry plant today. It was packaged well, but was limp from traveling. I will take some pictures of it later today and post. I am in the middle of cleaning a pump right now and need to finish that up first.

It has several runners on it to start some new plants! I am very pleased! Later!

Woot! I should get mine today as well. But even if I have to wait until tomorrow I'll be happy. I hope I have runners.

Keep in mind that most commercial growers only grow strawberries in the same field for three years, and then they plow it up, and plant in a different location, and allow the original field to lie fallow for a few years. This is because strawberry plants get a virus, which is not really apparent in the plants, but really cuts production. This is one of the major benefits of tissue culture propagation. A grower can be assured of starting out with virus-free stock.

I think I could have split mine in half because it seemed to have two suckers right next to each other in the root ball. I felt it was better not to mess with the root ball though.

I was surprised at how many runners mine had.

These are those little round cake things that I topped with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream (I hadn't put the whipped cream on yet in the picture ) for red, white, and blue.
