Cool

How many plants did you get out of it?

I have an experiment going, half the seed are in my livingroom with lots of warmth and light, in a propagator.

The other half are in a plastic bag in my fridge.. Still sown in the same soil as the ones in my propagator.

I mist both trays every day.

i had a good germination rate but the critical step was to separate all these little things.

i sown them too close, i had a lawn of strawberry.

the same thing happened when i have sown a slice of kiwi, a lots of sprout, very close.

This year's kiwi from seed (germination test):

This time not from a slice, just a few seeds, much easier to repot.

last year seedlings are 20 cm high.
two years old seedlings are 2 meters high.

Strawberries pics when sun will be back!

I successfully started the red, yellow, and white alpines last year, got about 60 plants. Once the snow goes, will have to see how many survived the winter. I had seed left from last year and am currently trying to get some more to germinate. The big key was to cold stratify the seeds. Takes several weeks, good light, and constant moisture. I did not give bottom heat, and they seemed to germinate just fine.

Interesting using seeds instead of rooted cuttings. I guess the objective is to start a lawn of berries rather than propagate a specific cultivar.
Seeding should also work for other common berry like fruits like mulberry, blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry.

I discovered the first sprouts today! It is the "warm" tray that has been sitting in my livingroom propagator. The cold tray in the dark fridge has yet to show anything.
I bet they will sprout as well, as soon as I place them in the warm livingroom.

Its going to be cool, to follow the two trays and see which will deliver the best results.

I must say I did not expect the seeds to sprout this soon. I planted them 7 days ago, and have read a lot about how difficult they can be to germinate. Perhaps those people never tried bananas
