I recently found two large white sapote trees growing next to each other in a park, and I picked some and put them in brown paper bags. Beautiful trees. You think they'll ripen?

Keith - nice calabaza. Bravo down the road sells them in big chunks all the time. Also fresh bunches of culantro. Dried kidney beans come out the best cooking with a chunk or 3 in the sofrito to thicken and flavor the sauce.

Just got another haul of white sapotes, this time from my internship. They are huge, and they are delicious. The ones from the park are ripening, some are fully ripe. The park ones have a bit of a sour taste but are still excellent. I let my sister try one and she thought it was weird. :ha: Definitely making a smoothie with them later!

Wholesale calabaza is $0.20/lb. I sold a commercial crop of them last year.

You have the best of both worlds Keith , the serenity of the PR mountains and the Fun & Sun of Man a house on Luquillo Beach , not to mention the Daily fresh octopus salad with tostones & a frosty Cold one at the beach !:nanadrink:

I do have a house in Ciales PR , that was handed down to me , but i doubt that i will be there any day soon ...
