Well this one sure wasn't playing dead! It struck at me. Lucky I've still got quick reflexes!

I saw a hognose snake when I still lived up in South Jersey. Was with a group of friends on a hiking trail - the snake was sunning it self on the side of the trail. I knew what kind of snake it was and wanted to show the hiking group that this was a snake that would imitate the actions of a rattlesnake if provoked. Gently poked it with my hiking stick - it vibrated it's tail (no rattle) and struck at the stick. When those actions failed - it rolled over on it's back. went completely limp and played dead. It also emitted a very nasty odor! We stepped way back, left it alone - it rolled upright and left the trail.

(I'm not saying why I'm laughing.)

Tonight there's a baby Cuban in my freezer. He was very easy to catch. Good thing because I don't think I'm a very good hunter; this is only the 2nd I've managed to send to icy sleepyland.

Was it Elian Gonzales? Is Ricky Ricardo in there too?

Heck, if I hadn't taken a turkey out to smoke today, there wouldn't have been room for anything else. As it is a small peanut butter "jar" slid right in beside the paint roller. (Living single has its perks; nobody complains if you have "projects" in unexpected places.)

Yeah, I know what you mean. In one of my books, it says "Use a workbench or your coffee table to lay the parts out (do not use the coffee table unless you are either single or wish to become so again)."

That wouldn't bother me unless I was already using said coffee table. First come, first served. I've just finally unpacked/sorted my tools. I have missing sockets, drill bits, wrenches, etc. because I allowed some guy to use them. He wouldn't be careless with his but a female's are fair game it seems. Oh and always have one those magnet dishes handy when disassembling something. I do; men I know scoff at the idea. Which is why I end up at Ace buying assorted missing nuts and bolts. (I'm still fuming that I had to replace the electric receptacle for my stove ($13.89) because Mr. "I don't see the need for magnets" lost irreplaceable bolts. Sheesh!)
