I don't know much about them but you might look at a compact Stella cherry.

Just went out and picked up a Vandalay cherry tree. I would have got stella compact but they didn't have any. Grows 8-10 feet. I'll be sure to keep it neat and tidy.

Northstar is naturally dwarfed. I have one in the second year that has a few cherries. I also have a dwarfed English Morello Cherry that is in its fifth year that should make enough for a pie this year
I just ordered a Carmine Jewel dwarf cherry that per the hipe, is suppose to be a big producer in a couple of years. Randy

turns out I can plant it in the ground.the far end of the backyard in the corner so it's far enough away from the pool. I might plant it tomorrow, gonna be 54 and sunny! Oh my goodness, I now have a list of fruit trees I would like from the nursery lol. first, banana addiction and now a fruit tree addiction!!
Tony why don't you put your trees in the ground? i'm guessing no more room??

Most stone fruit trees aren't that invasive to cause problems with pools, etc. especially if you make a practice of deep watering. Something like the super vigorous Mariana (sp?) rootstock might be another matter. I have suckers coming up 30' from the original pluot tree. I don't know of any cherry rootstocks that would be a problem in most cases, though.

That's a nice healthy looking cherry tree!
Tony, where do you get the 30 gal plastic pots (are they black?). Are there vendors/wholesalers in your area, or do you order them online. I'm in the Los Angeles area. John |

Puget Gold? Is your climate that bad? Puget Gold was developed for people like us northwesterners with terribly cool, short, wet seasons. Interesting.
Nice cherry! We've got a Stella and some nice small Montmorency's here. We like dwarf cherries too. Not that we don't have the room, we just like saving room for other plants and not needing a cherry ladder. |

I'm in more than one zone higher than you, - I mean it was developed for cool summers, a short growing season, and more wet soil and high humidity tolerance. I'd imagined your season outside winter to be better than ours, so that's why I was curious.
