Looks like Purple Flax to me. Do a google image search. I used to grow it in my front yard. Actually we had that and purple fountain grass, now we just have green flax.

I think it looks like fountain grass. If it is, it's not hardy below 20 degrees.

Ok I know its not fountain grass, the blades get about 1" wide and the plant gets about 4'-5' tall

Pennisetum setaceum 'Burgundy Giant' - Giant Burgundy Fountain Grass

Brad and Raymond,

As I mentioned to you privately Raymond, I bought mine as "giant purple fountain grass" at our botanical gardens plant sale. I checked with a friend there who brought it back from Charleston, SC, and she said they tag actually said Pennisetum 'princess'. There is also a large form called 'prince'.

I'd be willing to bet it is the same thing as Brad's with a different name.

How did we end up with 2 threads asking about the same thing?

Russell
