pink China Alocasia

What has been anyone's experience with these? I tried a couple a few years ago and killed them but I wasn't as good as a grower as I am now. Has anyone had good luck with them outdoors and more important what zone? I'd love to have some kind of elephant ear that would be hardy here in 5. I know Brian was saying he can overwinter in Louisville KY.
sorry, I think it's a colocasia, not alocasia!

I have 2 I planted last fall. They both came up after our winter. One doesn't get nothing but rain and is very small, the other is next to a banana and has a number of pups grows pretty good in loose soil w/ mulch :^)

I have one growing here in zone 7a. It is rapidly becoming a large clump. I'm leaving it out this winter with a straw mulch; I'll report on my results. It is supposedly zone 6 hardy.

Mine didn't make it here in zone 6, but I planted it kind of late. My yellow splash Colocasia (which has never had any color other than green, thanks Brent and Becky) did make it through the winter, though.
I had other China pinks in pots, and put them under my wooden gh benches. They were basically in the dark all winter and got very little water. Once I hauled them out in spring they were fine, took off growing.

Very pretty. I ordered a couple on ebay to try out--I figured that I'd keep it potted this year and overwinter it and get some size on it and put it out next spring. I just planted out the little ones last time and lost them but they really weren't very big when winter hit. And that was a few years ago.
I had enough ebay bucks to get them for free anyway, so why not?

What size do these china pinks grow too!!!I seen them at a nursery I was at today but they seamed to be a little flimsy looking, compared to the borneo giants they had beside them,so I bought a borneo!!!(so they called it)!!!
