My research disagrees with your statement: Top-bottom Sugarloaf, Walmart, Cayenne. My serrated blades are much more pronounced in Sugarloaf and Cayenne than w/e walmart grocery sold meee. While the Sugarloaf is the only with a bit of red.

Smooth Cayenne has been the dominate variety in worldwide pineapple production since the start of Pineapple production, due to many factors including, high yield, adaptability, good canning characteristics , and ease of picking the fruit , due to it's spineless nature.

All three of those plants are relatively smooth compared to a variety with serrated edges like a Natal Queen. The smooth in Smooth Cayenne does not mean perfectly smooth without even a couple thorns, it's a comparative description of a variety with many variations, such as ( CO-2, MD-2, Sarawak, Champaka etc...). Due to breeding, cross pollination, and other factors, a Smooth Cayenne variety could have zero to several serrations on the leaf edges. But generally speaking, it would be smooth compared to just about any other variety.
