I have 2 pineapples that bloomed this summer--one is almost full size and should ripen soon, the other is about half size.

I've had a pineapple growing for over a year and it's still a little bit of nothing. I think I have the wrong soil, it's not draining very fast and stays wet for days. I'm thinking about replanting it in some orchid type soil but I'm not sure if that would shock it too bad and kill it, especially this time of year. Any thoughts from anyone?

They don't need a massive pot, but they like to be fed like the banana's when its growing season.. :^)

Abnshrek is right--mine are in 2-3 gallon size pots--I just add a small handfull of 10-10-10 every couple weeks in the summer. Mine are not even in full sun.

I observed some of those funny looking centers another person's pineapple plants last week and asked if they were blooms. "I'm not sure". I was pretty certain they were and now know I was right. If I ever see those on my poor specimen, I'll jump for joy!
