Default Pineapples

Many of the pineapples are fruiting now, so I took a couple pics the other day. There are about a dozen, (naturally), blooming now. I'll force more as the season progresses.

I've heard of a couple of methods for forcing. Could you explain your procedure?

Drop a pea sized piece of calcium carbide into the center of the plant, and add water. When the two combine, acetylene gas is produced, and absorbed by the plant. The flower will form in about a month.
