Sunfish,

Are these all edible hybrids? I am trying to germinate some Passiflora mollissima seeds. Also going to be germinating some Passiflora alata. Beautiful photos!

Thanks for the update, I heard Passiflora alata has great tasting fruit. Taster said it tastes like soursop.

Thanks for confirming this, can't wait to germinate some seeds :). Currently growing Passiflora 'Mission Dolores', Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa, and Passiflora lutea (for its yellow flowers).

I have started a few Mission Dolores from seed but they died on me.

My 2nd plant of Passiflora Piresii. This one has more red in the blooms, and is a larger plant.

Passiflora Piresii - my 2nd plant. More red than the first one.

I believe that is one of the parents, but it was marked as P. Piresii, and I'm not experienced enough to know one from another. I know they look similar, but that's about all I know. If a cross is made isn't there some variation in the progeny so that some resemble one parent while some resemble the other, and some have characteristics of both? In orchids that is how it works; some are almost identical to one parent or the other, and the majority have a mixture of both parents to varying degrees.

I saw a photo on-line of a P. Piresii with large single-lobe leaves now that you mention it, but if you remember the first one I posted, the one that was more orange tinted, and I did know what it was until you providd a name? Well, that one is getting longer now, too. The new leaves are beginning to show the three lobed trait, too. I'll see if I can get a photo of it.
