Default Papaya or a Weed?

Planted a bunch of Papaya seeds in hopes of them coming up and this whatever it is was the strongest of the bunch so I weeded/pulled out the rest but now not sure exactly what this is lol

Any suggestions would be truly appreciated

S.

I don't think that's papaya, might be edible though? Check with these folks.

thats not Papaya for sure... besides where your at you should be starting papaya in a pot 3 to 5 gallon minimum. so when it gets cold you can bring it inside to keep it nice and toasty warm.. then when its warm in spring plant a nice 4 foot plant in the soil.. and before you plant any papaya seed ya got to scrape off the outer skin from the seed ... plus don't forget the papaya dance.. that done with a minimum of 3 beers .. the type of music can very.. no scrape, no dance, no beer, no seedling!

Definitely not Papaya, as those look at first to me like an odd pepper then like some kind of ivy.

Looks like a plant belonging to the Amaranth family. I have seen similar plants all over WA state.

Here is an example of edible Amaranth:
